Bicycle Setups
Bicycle Setup
It has been a longstanding service at Rebound Sports Physiotherapy to offer consultations for optimal bicycle setups. Riding with an inappropriate set up for your body proportions can lead to back pain, knee pain, neck pain, wrist injuries, elbow injuries and many other aches and pains. With the gym closed, many of us are now dusting the dirt off the old bike in the garage to get our exercise and some fresh air. It is important to ensure you are doing this safely as a large uptick in a new activity, particular with an inappropriate set up, can lead injury and pain. A bicycle setup consultation may be important for you even if you have purchased a new bicycle, as bicycle shops tend to target the setup towards optimal speed rather than caring for your body.
What do bicycle setups involve?
A typical bicycle setup consultation will involve an assessment of your body proportions and the proportions of your bicycle. Your physiotherapist will also assess your body's preferences for movement and consider any injuries past and present to adjust your bicycle settings to suit your needs.
Can I do a bicycle assessment from home?
If you are an existing patient that has recently received assessment and treatment from one of our physiotherapist's, we may be able to perform your bicycle assessment via Teleheatlh. For new patients, we recommend that you book your bicycle consultation Face-toFace with your physiotherapist so they can gain a comprehensive understanding of your body's movement preferences and any injuries you are carrying for optimal setup.
What if I need a face-to-face appointment. Is it safe?
We have implemented an new health, hygeine and oversease travel policy to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. You can view the specifics of this policy here. Whilst we cannot eliminate all risk, based on the current recommendations provided by the Australian Government, we are doing everything we can to ensure your safety. If it any point we feel it is unsafe to continue, we will not hesitate to take further action to protect your wellbeing and our staff.
